Language week

In May, students from the third and fourth classes went on a language trip to London, England. It was an exciting and educational experience for everyone. The students stayed with host families in Wimbledon, a district in the south of London. Living with local families helped them improve their English and learn more about British culture.

From Monday to Friday, the students went to a language school where they had lessons with native English speakers. The classes were varied and interactive - with games, group work and speaking activities.

In the afternoons and on Sunday, they visited the city centre of London. They saw many famous sights such as Buckingham Palace, where the King lives and the lovely St. James’s Park. They also walked through Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden and visited the impressive Elizabeth Tower, which is often mistakenly called “Big Ben”. In fact, the large bell inside the Elizabeth Tower, that chimes the hours, is the real “Big Ben”. Other highlights included Westminster Abbey, Westminster Bridge, the London Eye and the London Aquarium.

One day, they explored the colourful Graffiti Tunnel and they also visited the Tate Modern Art Museum and the Globe Theatre. Moreover, they crossed the Millennium Bridge and saw the famous Tower Bridge and the historic Tower of London. A special highlight for football fans was the guided tour of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The week was full of different activities – a perfect mix of culture, sightseeing and shopping. The students also became familiar with the Underground (the London subway), which was mostly crowded but always exciting. London is a very lively and multicultural city. The kids met people from all over the world and saw how many cultures live together in one place. This trip helped them to open their minds and see the world from a new perspective.

Even though the students had a great time, they were also happy to return home with many new memories and experiences.
